The Love Con by Seressia Glass
Kenya Davenport is this close to making her cosplay dreams come true on a reality show competition, but there’s a catch – she needs a fake boyfriend to sell her final round pitch. Enter Cameron, her best friend who’s been secretly in love with her for years. As the lines between real and pretend blur, their chemistry is impossible to ignore. With a mix of geek culture, romance, and laugh-out-loud moments, this book is a perfect feel-good escape.
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ Moderate i.e. steamy but not explicit.
Our Take: If you love a best-friends-to-lovers romance with plenty of heart (and a little nerdy flair), The Love Con will have you cheering.
Protective Heart by Brighton Walsh
Everly likes her cozy, small-town life as a vet, but when a disaster forces her out her home, she’s stuck with her best friend Beck, the grumpy, no-nonsense entrepreneur who’s the total opposite of her. But forced proximity has a way of stirring up sparks, especially when they both share a love of steamy romance books…
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ High i.e. open-door explicit scenes and steamy moments in between.
Our Take: If you love the grumpy x sunshine trope, small-town romance, and a MMC who falls first, you’ll devour this book. Fun and sexy!
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming
If The Princess Bride and romantasy had a love child, it would be this book. When Cinnamon, a spice farm owner, accidentally rescues a demon while tipsy, she gets pulled into an adventure full of magic, mayhem, and flirtation. This book is campy, hilarious, and packed with swoon-worthy moments, making it a perfect lighthearted (but spicy!) read for Spring.
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ High i.e. open-door spice with lots of fun.
Our Take: This is for readers who want something fresh! Def an over-the-top rom-com with lots of spice and adventure. It’s a must-read for anyone in the mood for a book that’s both hot and hilarious.
The Honey Witch by Sydney J. Shields
On the remote island of Innisfree, Marigold is set to undergo her training as the next Honey Witch and has no complaints about the one condition of the role – no one can fall for the Honey Witch. But when a beautiful stranger arrives, everything she thought she knew about love – and her own magic – gets turned upside down. A mix of cozy fantasy, romance, and lush storytelling, The Honey Witch is the perfect escape for readers who love soft magic and love stories.
Spice Level: 🌶️ Low i.e. some steam but not explicit.
Our Take: This is the kind of book you curl up with on a sunny day, sipping something sweet, and falling in love with every page. If you want a romantasy with cottagecore vibes, this is it.
No matter what kind of story you’re craving, these books will make the perfect Spring escape. So grab your favorite drink, find a comfy spot, and get lost in a great read. After all, a book is always good company!
